The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for facilitating and coordinating a robust community relations strategy, with a particular focus on building relationships with community partners, civic engagement, community outreach, and engaging Jefferson County residents.
The Coordinator will reach out to community members and create opportunities for them to engage and be a part of our civic fabric. This role will be crucial to increasing community trust and involving Jeffco residents in defining the county’s future.
The work will focus on engagement around county elections, as well as several other front-facing county services. The Community Engagement Coordinator will work to develop and implement initiatives that increase accessibility and transparency with a focus on practices that promote equity, diversity, and inclusion. Position must protect privacy and confidentiality.

★ Establishes and develops strong relationships and alliances with community groups, government, education, corporations, nonprofit entities, and other organizations to be a key partner in the civic life of Jefferson County. This includes strengthening existing relationships with partners to identify new ways of working together.
★ Develops and maintains relationships with community members, leaders, Jefferson County residents and other key stakeholders to build and enhance an inclusive and equitable community engagement program.
★ Consults with leadership and staff to plan, design, implement, and evaluate community engagement strategies, initiatives, and projects
★ Facilitates equitable community events, meetings, and initiatives to foster relationship building, collaboration, and promote engagement.
★ Coordinates formal gathering of community input and individual feedback that is used for developing, implementing, evaluating, and improving policies, programs, and services.
★ Ensures that barriers to participation for culturally and economically diverse communities are identified and removed.
★ Maintains contact information and lists, assisting with email correspondence, coordinating, and participating in public meetings.
★ Supports communications and public information initiatives with various methods, including social media, website, video and creating printed materials.
★ Collects, analyzes, and maintains data to evaluate the effectiveness of engagement initiatives and inform future program development.
★ Share and present reports and findings to community partners and key stakeholders.

Minimal Qualifications:
★ Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in community engagement/organizing, or related experience★ Education: HS Diploma or equivalent (or an equivalent combination of education & experience).
Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:
★ Three to five years of community engagement/organization experience★ Knowledge of and experience working within Jefferson County’s neighborhoods and community groups
★ Experience in marketing and/or communications
★ Bilingual ability in Spanish
★ Experience and comfort engaging community members in various formats, including one on one, small groups, and public settings.
★ Ability to articulate clearly and effectively to stakeholders with diverse backgrounds in a variety of professional to informal settings
